Better World Manufacturing was founded more than 30 years ago in Fresno, California, with a simple goal: to build better tools for insect pest monitoring — responsibly, effectively, and with respect for the environment.
What began as a small operation, assembling traps by hand, has grown into a fully integrated manufacturing company serving agricultural and regulatory programs worldwide.

From a living room to a global footprint

When Richard Alvarado moved from Chicago to Fresno, he brought an engineering background, hands-on manufacturing experience, and a strong work ethic. After working in pheromone and trap manufacturing, he saw an opportunity to continue serving growers and agencies with better-designed surveillance solutions.

Together with his wife Janie, Better World began as a small operation, assembling products by hand in their apartment living room, learning directly from field needs and customer feedback.
That beginning shaped the company’s culture: practical, honest, and closely connected to real-world agricultural challenges.

Engineering and manufacturing — all under one roof

Today, Better World Manufacturing designs, engineers, and produces insect pest surveillance systems in-house.
Our capabilities include mold making, injection molding, extrusion, printing, and die cutting, allowing greater control over quality, consistency, and production standards.

Our monitoring systems are used in agricultural, regulatory, and research programs to support early pest detection, field surveillance, and sustainable insect pest surveillance programs.

In 2013, Better World expanded into a 53,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, increasing production capacity and technical capabilities while preserving the hands-on values that shaped the company from the beginning.
